Health Education Administration (HEA) is excited to announce its first Public Health Education Collaborative (PHEC) for 2013! This Collaborative is half-day (1pm-5pm).
This year's Collaborative theme is Communication!
To start this New Year's theme off right, HEA staff will conduct their Say It Right the First Time: Using Plain Language to Address Health Literacy training. According to Dr. Jonathan E. Fielding, Director of Public Health and Health Officer for the LA County Department of Public Health, " The Department of Public Health (DPH) strongly endorses the use of plain language in both written and oral communication. We demonstrate our commitment to plain language by offering you this Say It Right the First Time training, which aims to help participants improve the clarity of their written communication." Additionally, at the Collaborative a representative from Mark Ridley Thomas' office will present a scroll in honor of Health Educators and Health Education Week 2012.
The Collaborative is open to health educators and anyone with an interest in health education. Both internal and external partners are invited to attend, so please feel free to distribute this email and flyer widely.
Note: County staff is encouraged to secure their supervisor's approval prior to attending educational events.
